Has anyone here subscribed to or had experience of this service?  It provides Internet access plus unlimited (VoIP) free telephone calls to fixed phones, in all the countries I ever want to call, at a flat rate (34.90€ per month for my area).

This price includes the line charge previously paid to France Telecom, and is about 20€ less pm than I currently pay on average for the line + 08** calls from FT, plus my ADSL + calls from Tele2.

The snags seem to be :-

1) There seems to be a delay between the line being cut while transferring to Tele2 and reestablishing it, during which no service is available.

2) No telephone available during a power failure.

3) No telephone if the Telebox packs up.

Can the box be disconnected to allow normal phone use?  I suppose I could fall back on my mobile 'phone in emergency, provided its battery were charged - or plug it into the car socket.

www.free.fr does the same for 29.99
We can connect a regular phone (non-cordless etc) and use that.

Thanks for the reply - I didn't get any email notification of it tho'.

Tele2 offers their Telebox for a similar amount (29.90€), but only in dégroupé areas.

Unfortunately I live in a non-dégroupé area, and Free offers me only the box, not the line, the cost of which still has to be paid to FT, making a total of 45.99€.

Reading Tele2's installation instructions from their website (I haven't bought it yet) it appears that all telephones in the house will be routed via the "box", so that calls will be made by VoIP.

Does your reply mean that your regular phone works off any of the sockets with the "box" completely disconnected?  And if so, how are these calls charged?

They're charged by Free, I guess. I don't have FT now, but there's no way for me to find out - why don't you just ast Tele2?
