I found out empirically how to edit my profile - I put in all the details of my new laptop. But when I looked at the result, the wording had reverted to the original. What I need to know is how to fix or lock in the new wording. I tried several times in different ways, but I lost it every time.

Can someone please tell me how to do it?

I'm sure this must be obvious, but do note that after entering the new information you need to click the 'Change profile' button at the bottom of that page in order to actually change your profile.

Thanks,Michael. Now that you have drawn attention to it, yes, it is obvious. but I didn't notice it at the time. Its as Dr.K said: "Read what's on the screen" - easier said than done for many of us, I'm afraid.

If you think about it, any webpage you see on your screen is just a rendering of a file that's been downloaded from a remote server. The server doesn't know anything about what you're doing with the file it sent you. After typing info into the fields on the page you need to take some action to send the info back to the server so it can be stored in the database. Much like posting a paper form back to the originating organisation. If you fill in a form then throw it away, the information you provided won't make it back to the organisation. You need to read the instructions on the form that tell you how and where to return it.
